Our Basketball Friends

Last night we had the privilege of hosting some basketball players for dinner. Over the months we've gotten to know these players, with the exception of one that we just met.

George, on the end, is our new friend. He's from Nigeria. The other two guys John and Vic, are Americans. They play here in our city of Barcelos. And the sweet smiling girl is Amaka, who plays for the girls team here in Barcelos. Her season is over and she will be returning Stateside soon. We had this cook out as a sort of send off for her. One last time to get together with everyone before everyone starts going their separate ways. We hope to see them play again here in Portugal next year.

We've enjoyed watching both the girls and guys play this year. It's been a lot of fun for all of us and it's encouraged the kids as they've taken an interest in playing basketball.

My sweet new friend, George.

Mean game of ping pong!

Phase 10 until midnight.

Wow, how cool is that??? I'm jealous! I need to go find some basketball players to bring home for dinner!
What a blessing you must have been for them. I know you'll be sorry to see Amaka going home.
Girl, you look short next to them, how tall are you? You're not short right?

Yes, Tori we will be sad to see her go, but she is in negotiations...maybe she'll be back in the fall!!?

No, I'm not short, I'm 5 feet 10 inches!! That shows how tall they are!!
