Grocery shopping is done weekly in our house. The Portuguese shop more frequently at smaller neighborhood grocery stores.
Like you, I have some items that are must haves each trip to the store.
Milk....It comes in boxes like this and you refrigerate it once you've opened it. "Magro" is the fat free version. The expiration date on this milk is September of 2009! (Just doesn't seem right does it?)
Once we open a box of milk we put it in this glass container for storage in the fridge. Also pictured from left to right is sour cream, drink box of chocolate milk (also bought at room temp) and bacon pieces. I use the bacon when I cook dried beans.
Flour, butter, dried beans and dried pasta. We don't have the choices like we did in the States so we've got to get creative with these items on a daily basis. Have any recipe ideas?
This is my "office"
And isn't this fruit dish lovely! A sweet lady in our church painted it for me....but that banana looks nasty, sorry about that.
