I'm Horrible at Meme's

I never follow the rules with Meme's. I mean....there are enough rules in life without the added stress of those made up in the bloggy world.

I'm sorry Cathy for not doing this sooner. I love pictures though...so you tagged the right girl!

The rules were something sort of like this....post the 10th picture in your 1st picture folder.

Here it is:

This is my uncle and my love talking after a mission conference service. We were staying at a youth camp where my husband and I used to work before he went to pastor in Georgia. My uncle was the pastor of Lee's Chapel Baptist church where my husband was saved and was the youth pastor and later assoc pastor. My uncle has recently resigned Lee's Chapel after nearly 20 years as pastor to become missionaries to India. He and my aunt will be visiting us in October on their way to India.

This was taken a month before we left for Portugal. It was a very emotional mission conference for me. A lot of my family as well as some dear church family attend this church and I knew it would be the last time I saw them for quite a while. I cried like a baby.

Oh Nina. Great picture and memory you shared. I must say I can't imagine packing up and leaving my home and my country. I know with a husband in the ministry there is always that chance that God will ask that of us some day. And if he does, I think I'd be willing. I mean what else can you do, but be obedient. I thank God for people like you and your family that are so willing to spread the gospel wherever He calls you. My prayer for you is that God will bless you and your family and encourage you and make your work profitable for Him!!

Thanks for playing along. There was no time limit, so it seems to me you played by the rules with no problem. Have a great day.

Cathy

I'm also horrible with tags and things like that! I just like to post and write about whatever. How great that your uncle is also going to be a missionary in India! Jeremy and went there with a team on our first missionary trip together. What a place to fall in love amidst diarrhea and lots and lots of people!

Oh wow, this was a very emotioal time for many of us in our family. January thru March. January's Mission confrence at Lee's Chapel, when Michael preached and how Grandma loved to hear him preach. She loved the mission confrences and usually made brownies for some visiting missionary. February when my baby girl, my son-in-law, and my grand-babies left for the mission field in Portugal. Then the devistation in March when Grandma (my mom) passed away. But you know, God has shown such mercy. Sometimes when I feel like I just cant deal with the fact that my Mom is no longer here and my babies are across the Atlantic ocean... He picks me up and says keep going. Then I think of when the time comes that I will get on a plane and fly to Portugal to see my babies and when the time comes that I will see my Mom again.
Yes your right Nina... this was an emotional time.
I would like to have a copy of this picture of Danny and Michael.
Sorry for the long comment.
I love you, Mom

Hi Nina,
Thank you for stopping by, and leaving such a sweet comment. I apologize for not visiting sooner, as I have had some health issues this past week and didn't feel like blogging, but finally gave in and went to the doctor, I am feeling much better and am very happy to be visiting friends again.

I am not good at memes either, but enjoyed reading this one, It is always bitter sweet when you have to leave a comfort zone and go where God has called you, I so understand the tears.
I bet you have seen a lot of growth since moving to Portugal, Isn't it a wonderful feeling to find and be in God's Will?
I know your Uncle and his wife have gone through the same feelings as they seek to do His will too. I know you will have a wonderful visit with them this fall. I will add them to my prayer list, as I continue to pray for you and your family. God has not called me to actively go to the mission field, but He has called me to pray for all missionaries over the world, and I count it a privilege to be able to pray for you and your family.

Now as for the latter post on the chicken leg, Girl, us folks here in the South just love those chicken legs! LOL. Seriously my grandparents used to clean them things and boil them and eat them, however not me , I just thought about all those places them feet and legs had been and just could not eat them.LOL Have a great day!
Hugs,
Sue

Maybe we need to explore this underlying distaste for rules, Nina. I think it stems from a deeper problem and you need help. I would be glad to come over and we can discuss this for hours and hours!

You do realize how close we live and that I am just going to hop on over one of these days!!!!

Love you, girl!!
God has made you for this moment in time! You are His Creation and beautiful in His sight!

Well Nina, I an relate to the emotional feelings you got at that mission's conference. Once when Rita and Clint were guests of our church's conf. I was scheduled to sing right before they got up to present their work in Venezuela. I chose to sing, "Thank You For Giving To The Lord".BIG mistake! I looked out into the crowd, saw my sister, her hubby and their 4 little ones, knowing they were leaving the next day or two. I boo hooed and snubbed my way through that meaningful song! My Shane was about 3 I think. For kicks he'd say, "Mommy, I can sing 'Thank You'." Then he'd start out, good and strong then fake deteriation! It went something like this
"Thanks you for giving (crying voice) to the Lord, (sniff sniff) I was a live (wavery voice) that was changed. (grimacing in sadness and tears)

To this day, I melt and fall to pieces in my seat when I hear a missionary share their love for their new home and their new people. I thank the Lord that he has given me a true love for missionaries, by using my sister and also my husband's sister as missionaries.

Wow, it makes me want to cry! I just looked at the picture and read what you wrote and then I hit the wrong link and it sent me to a post from February 2008 that was my column I had written in the paper about you guys. Can you believe it has been that long? I can still remember us all being big cry babies the whole night... and week for that matter.
This picture does crack me up though because they look like they are praying or something with all those closed eyes... good luck on getting a picture of dad with his eyes open though.
Shoot me an email some time and we'll catch up.
Also, be praying for Todd and I and the girls. We are going through a lot right now with our church family.
Keep up the good work on the blog... I finally got caught back up. It's always soooo interesting!
LOVE YOU!!!
Danielle
