Flowers & Furniture

I have no idea what kind of flowers these are, but aren't they pretty? They're out behind our house.

Getting furniture delivered here is like pulling teeth. They bring it when they feel like it. Here are a few pictures of the coffee table and shelves being delivered. They didn't bring the chair they were supposed to bring. And they didn't have the right drill to install the shelves. It was 4 days later before they came back with the chair and correct drill. I guess we are the only ones in a hurry in this country!

I don't think I've experienced "Culture Shock" yet. Or maybe the denial of said "shock" is evidence of it....Who knows? But truly, I love this country and I'm humbled when I think about the work we were called here to do. Learning Portuguese isn't my favorite thing to do, but I know I have to learn it. I study when I can, which isn't often enough. Our teacher, Olinda laughs at me a lot. I don't know if that's a good thing or not...let's just assume it is.

Awww, flat packs!! We have put together our share of those, with the funny, bulky hinges. Europe has her own way of doing just about everything.

On another subject, do the Portuguese take their ham and eggs to be blessed by the Catholic Priest?

Happy Easter!

I love languages. Learning Portugese seems like it would be fun, but then again I'm not the one that has to learn it. The flowers are beautiful. Is it summer there?

Aunt LaShawn, Joy and I went to the candle light service at the cemetary last night. The service was nice and the candles were beautiful across the cemetary. The wind was blowing and it was a task keeping the candles lit. We took pictures. Grandma gets to spent Easter with Jesus. Joy gave me our copies of Grandma's writings while she was in the hospital. I read it this morning and cant help but cry. I miss her so much. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter.
I love you .... MOM

Tori, I have no idea about the ham and egg thing. I'll have to find out about that. I guess that's what they do in Croatia?

Erica,
No, it's not summer, but a cool spring. It gets fairly warm in the days like about 60 but gets considerably cooler at sun down.

Danielle,
Happy Easter/Resurrection Day to you too! Me and the girls made Resurrection Cookies tonight. Ever heard of them?

Mom,
I miss Grandma too! Tonight, as we were making cookies Brooklyn asked a questions. Before I had a chance to answer it, she said, "I bet Grandma already knows the answer."--We've said a lot of "remember when's". They remember last easter at Grandmas house. Oh, how I want them to remember her!
Bring my copy of Grandma's writing with you in May.
