No Dr. Pepper
No Twinkies, Little Debbie's or Zingers
No Krispy Kreme
No CiCi's
No drive-thrus
I'm getting more depressed the more I type. Who am I kidding. Diets are NEVER easy. But all these things are true. I'm missing The States right about now.
I don't really like the word 'diet'. It's so...so.....temporary. We all know it's true. No one ever stays on a diet forever. It's going to come to an end at some point. And at that time you eat like you've never eaten before and within 6 months, it's all back on again.
But, boy wasn't it fun to feel thinner....... if even for a little while!!!
Ahhhh, the self image, the self confidence. The extra bounce in our step...the many smiles on our faces.
We all like being thinner.
But WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO HARD?!
No...I'm not quiting. I'm on the one and only.......
diet of a lifetime!!
It feels that way.

Well, for what is worth you look great in the last photos you posted with your daugther and looks like you have lost a lot of weight in comparison to the ones on the side of your blog, where you still look great btw :).
You should be proud...
One more thing, I cannot believe you put a photo of Krispy Cream Donuts!!!!!!!!!!.... Okay now I am missing the States too.
Do you guys have DR Pepper in Portugal??? Because if so I am going there TOMORROW!! :)
Hang in there! I agree it is so hard to diet.
Oh boy! Been there, done that! I remember losing so much weight after moving to Mexico! Not only because our "diet" changed to less preservatives and more fresh fruit, veggies, eggs, meat, bought daily at neighborhood markets or en "El Mercado" grande, but due to having to WALK everywhere. We had a car, but sometimes it was simpler to walk to the corner, catch a cab, or taxi bus for downtown. We had the beautiful city of Queretaro to meander around in. Lots of streets and shops and parks. I'm now homesick for Mexico! I sure could use some help with my diet!! Do you think if I move back, I'll lose weight? Probaby not due to the modernizations over the past 20 years. I'd find my way to the KFC or Burger King, or call and have Dominoes deliver!
Yep, it's hard! I feel like I've been on a diet my whole life. I lose and then gain and then lose and then gain. Total rollercoaster. Oh Well, life goes on.
Nina, do you need a carepackage of American junk food?
I think you do! Honestly, you'll probably live longer than the rest of us because you're not drinking Dr. Pepper and eating Krispy Creams. I once heard a Sunday School lesson where the teacher likened the Christian life to a Krispy Cream donut. So funny.

We are just starting a new diet. I should not be looking, even thinking, about these kinds of things.
Congratulations on the weight that you have lost and hang in there. Of course, if most of the temptation is gone... well....
I hate the word 'diet'. But it is so cold here in the deep south this winter. It has not been cold like this in years! I think it has increased my appetite. My appetite for something that puts meat on your bones.
Remember to get in some exercise. I cannot remember how much you do. If you walk, play with the kids (chase kids...)
Okay, okay, spill the dirt! So what diet is it exactly, because it is obviously working for you. You look fabulous! Please share the details - I'm sure others want to know as well:) Missonary Mom in Panama
Oh what kindred souls we are!! Guess what I have in the bottom of my fridge....a 16 oz. Dr. Pepper! Really, we can buy them in Austria for now. Too bad you're so far away.
BTW, how much are you wanting to lose, you look so thin already.
Pilar - No Dr. Pepper here. Only Coke, Pepsi and 7-Up. I could think of other drinks I'd rather have. But at least we can get Coke. The Portuguese people think that all Americans drink is Coke Cola. We've tried to explain Mt. Dew, Dr. Pepper and the others....but they don't understand. I mean, how do you describe the difference between Coke and Dr. Pepper??? Other than Dr. Pepper is JUST PLAIN BETTER!!!
Fringegirl - Only if you can ship me hot, fresh krispy kremes....I'd blow my diet for one of those...or a dozen maybe. You know how they just dissolve in your mouth when they're hot....so eating 12 of them is nothing....right?!
Missionary Mom in Panama - I'm doing weight watchers online. I like it okay, but I don't have the quick snack options here like the 100 calories snacks and the normal 'diet' foods that you can buy at Wal-Mart, so it's a little difficult coming up with meal ideas. But it's working, so I'm sticking with it. And Thank You for your kind words.
Tori - I am so jealous I can hardly stand it. I WANT a Dr. Pepper!!----I'm shooting for about 19 more lbs....we'll see. All my weight is in my gut and hips.
Melissa Wertz - Did you know I'm from B'ham?! You're in Hoover, right?
I'm new to your blog and I love the cute family pic at the ocean. I know we missionaries do miss a lot of yummy USA foods don't we?! And aaallllll the walking we do surely does help in the dieting. =) (I walk a mile to my grocery store and back here in Colombia, S.A.)
God bless y'all in your endeavors for Him.
Hi, can I get in on this? :) I think you, Pilar, and Melissa are encouraging me to stick with my no sugar diet. I have made it more than two weeks! This is the year it all comes off and stays off. You can do it in God´s strength.
Did you know you can freeze Krispy Kremes and they come out just fine after you nuke them in the microwave for 30 secs? I only know this because I am a donut addict. My local donut shop knows me by name. I just put my money on the counter and they hand me my regular order. NOT a good thing.
Keep up the good work on your "eating for a healthier life" program.
p.s.
Gave you an award on my blog, but I think you already have one like it.
I haven't been by in a while, but you had me laughing hard!!!! Love all that you said and I know that I hate "diets" for all the listed reasons. I miss the states right now! Are you in Portugal forever or for a time or just til the Lord says go some where else?
